WEDNESDAY 01

8pm Tickets £12
Songwriter Jez Lowe returns to his North East roots in a special seasonal presentation that harks back to the old Tyneside radio shows of the 1950's, entitled Geordie's Winter Almanac Radio Roadshow. Gather round the winter firesides of the cottages and terraces in the shadow of the dockyard cranes and the pit-wheels, for an evening of songs, tunes, recitations and comedy, with a backdrop of archive film and photographs.
Jez, hailed for his contributions to the recent SONY Award-Winning BBC Radio Ballads, and whose songs have been covered by the likes of Fairport Convention, The Dubliners and hundreds more, will be joined by his long-time band The Bad Pennies, with Kate Bramley (vocals/violin), Andy May (Northumbrian Pipes) and David De La Haye (bass).
Together with special guests Tyneside balladeer Benny Graham and young multi-instrumentalist Andrew Cadie, Jez and the Bad Pennies deliver a night of homespun revelry, Geordie Style.

One of the undoubted highlights of last year at the Victoria Hall was the performance by The Christians… it was also one the most enjoyable gigs of the year for the band. They loved the Hall, they loved Settle and they loved the audience so much that they’re as excited about coming back as we are of welcoming them.
Garry Christian is the face and the voice of The Christians, renowned for their string of soul-inspired hits including Forgotten Town, Born Again, Hooverville, Ideal World, Harvest for the World and many more.
The rest of the line up is Neil Griffiths, Joey Ankrah, Lionel Duke and Cliff Watson.
The Christians still enjoy great success - due to the sheer joy experienced by audiences and band together at their performances. The voice, the music and the passion remain as incredible as ever - delivered unplugged, acoustic and with a relaxed vibe.
This a night definitely not to be missed.
